Our Legal Rights in Christ to God’s Blessings

Our Legal Rights in Christ to God’s Blessings

We have a great, big, wonderful God Whose love and mercy abounds throughout creation, making His blessings available to all.

Psalms 145:8,9 [The Amplified Bible]:
The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and abounding in mercy and loving-kindness.
The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works [the entirety of things created].

By God’s mercy and loving-kindness, He designed creation to bless all mankind. In addition to His created works, God set up immutable laws that allow all mankind to abound with blessings.

Jesus Christ taught his disciples this life lesson about God’s immutable laws.

Matthew 5:45:
for he [God] maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

God’s continuing love and mercy is evident to all. Whether someone lives for God or not, they still enjoy the sunshine and the rain. God wants all men to know of His goodness. Because of God’s mercy and loving-kindness, these immutable, unchangeable, laws are available to all, not just to those who are children of God. One of these immutable laws is the law of giving.

II Corinthians 9:6:
But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

I saw this reality as a young boy. When I was six years old, my father became very ill; so my uncle moved our family into a house that he had built for us, and he supported us for years. While he was by no means evil or unjust, he was not a practicing Christian. Three things stand out in my memories of him: (1) he worked hard, (2) he loved to give money away, even supporting my mother’s church financially, and (3) he was prosperous. I understand now that he was operating God’s immutable law of giving that anyone can apply. Because he gave bountifully, he reaped bountifully.

While God extends His love and blessings to all, God has given His sons the legal right to claim His blessings regarding finances. God and His Son, Jesus Christ, paid dearly (I Corinthians 6:20) so that we could live a more than abundant life (John 10:10,11).

II Corinthians 9:8,11:
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you [the born-again believer]; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.
Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

God has given His born-again sons and daughters legal grounds to stand on, wherewith to defy the adversary; but each believer must claim those legal grounds for himself. When a believer knows and embraces God’s immutable laws governing financial prosperity, God can bless him even beyond His natural laws. The legal rights believers have in Christ make it possible to pray in the name of Jesus Christ for blessings beyond those of the unbeliever. III John 2 shows how important prosperity is to God.

III John 2:
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

It is through the knowledge of God via His Word that believers have access to all things that pertain to life and godliness, including financial prosperity. II Peter 1:3 sets this before us.

II Peter 1:3:
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory [power in manifestation] and virtue.

Fundamental to claiming our right in Christ to prosperity is the tithe—the giving of one-tenth of our increase to our heavenly Father. This brings the blessings of God into manifestation in our lives. For us, as born-again believers, the decision to tithe is more than just operating immutable laws. It is spiritual—a heartfelt response to God for all He has done for us. Our giving is a partnership with God (I Corinthians 3:9) to financially support the movement of His Word to the valley of human need. We can prosper our soul and claim God’s blessings by standing on “the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” When we know from God’s Word our legal rights in Christ and walk out on them, we can live the abundant life and be powerful witnesses for the true God.

We have a great, big, wonderful God Who wants to bless all of mankind, as evidenced by immutable laws He set in creation governing financial freedom and prosperity. Those born again of God’s spirit have the legal right to claim His blessings in Christ. As we give God the tithe from a heart of love because of what God did for us and because of what He promises He will do, then we can expect to receive abundant blessings. Let’s claim our legal rights in Christ to God’s blessings.
