Sharing the Truth from a Word-Filled Heart

Sharing the Truth from a Word-Filled Heart

I still remember a time when my sister and I were in high school, and she was sharing God’s Word with one of our friends in our kitchen at home. She was so bold and confident! She was taking The Way Ministry’s Foundational Class on the Bible and was learning God’s Word. She had so much to share with our friend. She had also been speaking God’s Word to me and had invited me to a home fellowship. I decided to go. Since that first home fellowship, my desire to learn and understand God’s Word has never stopped. Like my sister, I have endeavored to make learning God’s Word a daily part of my life so that I am always confident and ready to speak God’s Word at home, with coworkers, and when I am out and about in my community.

I Thessalonians 2:4:
But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

Over the years my desire to share God’s Word with others has continued to increase. Why? Because as I study and put on God’s Word in my daily living, I also want to share it with others. What a blessing and privilege it is to know that God has entrusted us with His precious Word. I love sharing God’s Word with others, just as my sister continues to do.

Ephesians 4:15:
But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.

It is now forty years later, and we are both still excited about sharing God’s Word with each other and with others that we meet!

I Thessalonians 2:8:
So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.

When we take the time to get into God’s Word daily, we are making it our priority and our joy. Over the years, in my different seasons of life, my goal has been to spend some time in the Word each day and get to know my heavenly Father better. I have endeavored to spend some time in the evenings reading and studying different resources that our ministry makes available. I want to be ready to speak God’s Word to myself or to another believer or to someone I may meet as I am out. I think it is awesome that we get to work with God to reach out to others, individually or collectively, and let them know about His Word just as someone did for us.

I Corinthians 3:9:
For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.

Recently I went to support a young believer by visiting the coffee shop where she was performing. On my way there, I thanked God for a wonderful time. My heart was filled with all the Word I had been reading, and I had three things that I wanted to do while I was there: enjoy listening to the young believer perform, enjoy breakfast, and enjoy speaking God’s Word at the coffee shop.

I walked in and got in line to order my breakfast. Soon after, I started a conversation with the family in front of me. The front door opened behind me, and as I moved over to let a woman in, we also started talking. She shared her heart with me about an upcoming surgery, and I told her that I will be praying for her. I gave her my phone number so she can call me if she wants more prayer.

While I waited for my food to arrive, I spent a few minutes enjoying the young believer’s performance and sharing victory stories with her mom. When my food arrived, I went back to my table to enjoy my breakfast. Then I noticed a young woman setting out some clothing, so I went to go see what she was selling. It was sportswear that had a Christian logo on it. I was so excited to share with her about a topic I was currently studying—Jesus Christ!

She said that she knows there are people who do not believe that Jesus Christ and God’s Word are relevant, but she is willing to put the message out there for those who still want to know. I shared that I love to study God’s Word and what I do to share God’s Word. She was very interested to learn more so that she could best represent God. She said her clothing line has helped her tell others about God and Jesus Christ. She gave me her card, and I look forward to spending more time talking with her.

I can’t wait to talk to my sister and share my victory stories. I love being in God’s Word so I am ready to speak. What a privilege it is to shine for God and to see that with a heart filled with God’s Word, we can be ever ready to speak for Him.

I Peter 3:15:
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.
