Yearly Ministry Theme
This year’s ministry theme is Living the Word’s Way: Making God Our Sufficiency. To illustrate this theme, we have a theme poster that shows a beautiful, fertile valley sectioned into cultivated fields. The growing season is under way, and the fields are in different stages of growth. On one side of the landscape, clouds overshadow the land and shower rain on the countryside. On the other side of the landscape, the rain has passed and the sun shines brightly. Under the warm sun, crops will mature and ripen.
Sufficient rain and sunshine are both needed for the crops to grow and produce abundantly. Rain or shine, God promises to be our sufficiency in all things.
Philippians 4:19:
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Agriculture provides a superb illustration of the partnership between God and man in bringing His supply into manifestation. See how He communicated in these agricultural terms.
Isaiah 55:10,11:
For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
What a beautiful comparison. Just as the rain accomplishes what God intends for it—providing seed to the sower and bread to the eater—so God’s Word will accomplish the results that He pleases. He shall supply all our need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. As we believe, we will receive the results.
God also uses the agricultural illustration of sowing and reaping in II Corinthians 9. Just as seeds produce abundant fruit when all the needed elements are in place, so our abundant life is manifested when we properly apply God’s Word. Understanding our partnership with God and how He works enables us to effectively acquire right results.
II Corinthians 9:6-8:
But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.
God’s desire and ability to abundantly supply our need never diminish or weaken. As we live the Word’s way, we make God our sufficiency—and we prosper.
